We
are excited to announce our
first annual "Tales and Tails" gala on March 28th, 2008! Our
gala will be a memorable night of cocktails, a silent auction, dinner,
and
great speakers. The theme chosen for our inaugural gala,
"Onward and
Upward: From Dreams to Reality," not only reflects aviation's humble
beginnings and exciting future, but also Cavanaugh Flight Museum's
beginnings
and our future expansion to continue as one of the nation's premier
aviation
museums.
As some of
you may know, the Museum in conjunction with the Town of Addison
is exploring the development of a new state of the art facility for the
Cavanaugh Flight Museum. Working together with the
Town of Addison, we
will create a world-class facility, providing
education and entertainment to individuals and families who visit our
premier
tourist site in Addison, Texas. In the new facility plans
are to include
classrooms, meeting space, a
state-of-the-art theater, research library, observation replica tower,
maintenance shop, and art gallery.
The possibilities
are endless!
Our gala
this year ushers in a new era for the Cavanaugh Flight Museum; one in
which the
Cavanaugh Flight Museum comes into its own and can expand not only
physical
location and exhibit size, but also educational and community
opportunities. The
annual gala will serve as our largest
fundraising event to help fund the operation and expansion of the
museum.
No one
understands better how dreams can become a reality than Dick Rutan. In 1981, Dick founded
Voyager Aircraft, Inc.
with its sole mission to complete the first ever non-stop, non-refueled
flight
around the world. From
humble
beginnings, Dick and his crew were able to create and finance an
aircraft that
on December 14, 1986 finally completed their mission.
We are
proud to welcome Dick Rutan as our keynote speaker for the evening as
he tells
us about his experience creating the Voyager program and all the fun
stories
about how it finally got off of the ground and what it was like up
there for
nine days, three minutes, and forty-four seconds!
Since this
is our inaugural gala, we would love to see all of our members,
volunteers, and
friends here at the gala. We
want to
show the Town of Addison
and everyone in the DFW corridor that we have the support necessary to
become
bigger and better!
We have a
limited number of tickets available on a first come, first served basis
at $150
per person, which includes valet parking, admission to the cocktail
hour, the
silent auction, dinner, and dancing.
We
are also offering corporate sponsorship opportunities.
For tickets, sponsorship information,
and
general questions, please call 972-380-8800 or visit
www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com. Dress
for the evening is black tie optional.
Make sure
to bring your party hat and dancing shoes; it promises to be a very
memorable
evening! We look
forward to seeing you
on the 28th!
Seating is
